MDX PROCESSOR

MDX OS, THE NEXT GENERATION OF INNOVATION

Our MDx digital processor serves as the core architecture of our digital audio systems, managing all digital operations with exceptional precision. This advanced, proprietary platform forms the foundation of our entire range of D/A converters, delivering ultra-precise timing and master clocking for superior musical detail and natural sound quality.

The MDx processor integrates seamlessly with optional components, such as the Network Player and I2S Card, optimizing network and streaming performance. Each module works cohesively to elevate the system's capabilities, delivering pristine, high-resolution audio.

  • Precision Master Clocking: We ensure ultra-accurate timing for optimal sound quality and detail.

  • High-Resolution DSD Support: Play DSD over USB and Ethernet for versatile high-resolution playback.

  • Native DSD Over PCM (DoP): Our system is fully compatible with DoP on SPDIF, AES/EBU, and enhanced I2S digital inputs, enabling high-resolution playback across various interfaces with a single digital connection.

  • Optimized Network Performance: We design our systems for superior audio quality over network connections, ensuring flawless integration with any setup.

  • Proprietary Platform: The MDx processor has been developed over the years, setting a new benchmark for audio refinement and sonic accuracy.

I2S and Network Player connected to the MDX Processor

With significant network enhancements, our MDx processor delivers exceptional audio performance over digital connections. It supports DSD256 over USB and native DSD via PCM (DoP) on SPDIF, AES/EBU, and I2S interfaces, enabling high-resolution playback from a wide range of sources with uncompromised sound quality.

This advanced technology is also featured in our Bricasti M19 Reference SACD/CD Transport, facilitating seamless DSD playback across multiple digital outputs. The I2S connection, in particular, ensures the player and DAC function as a unified system, minimizing unnecessary conversions and preserving data fidelity for superior sound clarity.

MODULAR

BY DESIGN

Brian Zolner explains the latest MDx module upgrade in detail:

We introduced the MDx processor into production in early 2020, primarily to update key aspects of digital processing in the M1 and all our other products. As the demands and features of digital audio have evolved, we recognized the need to future-proof our systems while maintaining the high standards for which we are known.

“

“In many ways, this refreshed and updated processor board improves performance and ensures we can continue manufacturing it for the foreseeable future.”

The M1 Stereo D/A has evolved over time, and with the development of the MDx, we implemented hardware changes to better support the network interface. We transitioned to a newer generation of dual-core DSP processors from Analog Devices and the latest USB receiver from XMOS, enabling support for higher rates of DSD.

When designing this new hardware, we also took the opportunity to enhance how our system handles the incoming master clock and clock recovery. These fine-tuned improvements required changes to both hardware and software, delivering audible enhancements that listeners can appreciate.
